In Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we find the familiar story continues but the characters have finally matured a bit. Love and romance are much more are part of things now than they have been before. The storyline continued nicely but a typical twist or two at the end were a bit surprising given the usual creativity of the series and almost felt beneath this franchise. One can’t help but wonder where the series will head now with Harry’s nemesis finally vanquished.
Acting was a bit better here as the actors continue to mature. Though Grint, Watson and Radcliffe do well it was nice to spend time with others like Fiennes and Rickman who bring good depth to the film. It was disappointing Carter had only a brief appearance since she brings such unusual energy to things.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were good as always but can’t come close to the CGI work. Effects were once again very well done, despite being obviously impossible at times. Still, effects are a big part of what makes the franchise work in the first place. Dialogue was good and solid throughout the film. Sound and soundtrack were nicely done.
Overall Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is an enjoyable entry in the franchise that feels more mature and a bit more centered than some previous entries. Fans of the series will likely enjoy this one quite a bit while those coming in late will probably be lost.
With some intense violence and possibly disturbing images, this should be fine for preens and above.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
