My dog has rights.
He is entitled to medical care and exercise to keep him healthy because I am bound by laws requiring this. Wild dogs have no such entitlement from mother nature.
He has the right to remain in my care unless due process deems otherwise. He receives that right through my protection by the Constitution.
He has the right to representation in the world by me.
He has the right to reproduce when and if that will better and protect dogs. I ensure that right is not abused or squandered.
He has the right to WORK. Yes, I said work. Pursuit of happiness for dogs includes meaningful activities like hunting and traveling. He is able to do these things safely because I am bound by laws to supervise him.
He has the right to be owned. But if you fear this type of power relationship, let’s simply call it government. Do you show up at a job site each day in exchange for something you need like food or electricity? My dog is governed by me. He pays taxes. I provide services.
My dog wants what you have. My dog has rights.
