Octomom Nadya Suleman says her 14 children are safe and doing well under her care following a visit from California authorities earlier this week.
Speaking to Good Morning America on April 26, 2012, Suleman insisted she was set up by her hairstylist, who had reported her to Children’s Services claiming her children were malnourished and severely neglected.
“I think, maybe, me and my kids were set up,” Nadya, 36, said. “We were set up. [My hairsylist] thought it was unacceptable that [my kids were] half-naked going potty. I mean, Mom is out there, come on!”
The hairdresser also took photos of Nadya’s unkempt house and alleged the following:
- Octomom’s 14 kids appeared malnourished and unbathed.
- There was only one working toilet in the house.
- Some of the kids were pooping on portable training toilets located in their bedrooms and in the backyard.
- Octomom locked her kids in a bedroom while she got her hair done.
According to Suleman, the messiness of her home and the squalid conditions her family lives in is being blown out of proportion.
The previous day, the La Habra Police Department and the Orange County Dept. of Family and Children’s Services investigated the hairdresser’s complaint and left Suleman’s house after concluding her kids are indeed safe and don’t need to be removed from her care.
“They didn’t discover any mistreatment, so no further action was taken,” said a rep for the La Habra Police Department. Further investigation is pending, but Nadya has previously insisted she’s a good mother and deserves more credit than she’s given.
“They could never have a better home,” she said. “A better home, physically, yes; we’re going to be moving. But they could never have a better mother.”
