Once again, Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation comes through with fun Easter activities for kids. This year they are also adding drug-related awareness in the community!
10:00am – 2:00pm
Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center
2921 Tuckaseegee Road
The Bette Rae Recreation Center in conjunction with Mecklenburg County’s Project Safe Neighborhood are coming together to host their annual Easter Egg Hunt. This event is free for all ages. For more information, call Sonya Smith at 704-432-3048. (Easter Egg Hunt Flyer)
In addition to the Egg hunt, they will also be bringing Operation Medicine Drop to the community. (Operation Medicine Drop Flyer)
About Operation Medicine Drop:
The home is the prime place prescription drugs are accessed by children and teenagers. One-third of teenagers nationwide get their drugs from their home (according to a 2009 survey by The Center on Addiction and Drug Use). Prescription drug access also plays a role in unintentional poisoning from overdosing.
Operation Medicine Drop is a way for individuals to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. Bring your unused expired prescription medications to Operation Medicine Drop where law enforcement will dispose of them properly.
