Peter Wolf Crier’s name caught my eye on the April Bottom of the Hill Calendar. After checking out their website and music, I was intrigued. So I decided to take a little trip to see this Minneapolis based duo.
However, after listening to their entire album I was completely confused. I wasn’t sure if I liked their sound, their lyrics or style. I don’t think I liked Peter Wolf Crier!! Cut a Hand and Set it off I listened and fell for. But others, like Wheel, really had me perplexed and confused. (Why do I think that was the point?)
Utterly unsure as to what I was going to see off I went on the one and one half hour drive hoping for a good cold beer at the least. After about 30 seconds into their first song I knew I was a new fan. This is a must see LIVE band. Not only was their sound unique they were so interesting to watch! Drummer, Brian Moen, played every song with utterly robust energy. The word haunting isn’t quite fitting to describe the sound of PWC and voice of Peter Pisano; it’s the type of sound you can close your eyes and get lost for a moment. One girl I was standing next remarked after their set, “That’s some sexy music”.
In May, they leave to tour in Spain and England. Keep an eye out at www.peterwolfcrier.com
PS: They have the coolest amp ever!!
