For Thursday, April 26th 2012 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
Community (NBC, 8pm) – “Basic Lupine Urology” – When Annie (Alison Brie) discovers the study group’s yam experiment smashed to smithereens on the science lab floor, the group mobilizes to expose the criminal and save their grade. Once Abed (Danny Pudi) and Troy (Donald Glover) think they have located the perpetrator, the group conducts a “trial,” with a reluctant Professor Kane (guest star Michael K. Williams) serving as judge. Jeff (Joel McHale) soon realizes, however, that the plot is thicker than anyone suspects.
The Vampire Diaries (The CW, 8pm) – “Do Not Go Gentle” – Alaric (Matt Davis) finds an unexpected ally to guide him on his dangerous new path, while Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Meredith (guest star Torrey Devitto) try to figure out what their next move should be. At the school’s 1920s Decade Dance, Bonnie (Kat Graham) asks Jamie (guest star Robert Ri’chard) to go with her and, at Caroline’s (Candice Accola) suggestion, Elena (Nina Dobrev) asks Stefan (Paul Wesley) to be her date. Caroline is pleasantly surprised when Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows up at the dance determined to sweep her off her feet, but Klaus (Joseph Morgan) does his best to come between them. The dance takes a deadly turn when Damon and Stefan realize they need the help of Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), and especially Bonnie to undo a spell that could prove devastating for everyone.
30 Rock (NBC, 8:30pm) – “Live From Studio 6H” – When their Kabletown bosses announce they will no longer pay for TGS to be a live show, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) realize their lives will actually be easier if they shoot canned episodes fast and cheap. Only Kenneth the page (Jack McBrayer) objects, urging that nothing can replace the communal experience of live television. He tries to convince the TGS staff to fight for their right to be live by taking them and our audience through a magical look back at the illustrious history of Studio 6H. This is 30 Rock’s actual live episode.
Parks and Recreation (NBC, 9:30pm) – “The Debate” – Leslie (Amy Poehler, who also wrote and directed) goes toe-to-toe with Bobby Newport (guest star Paul Rudd) in their big televised debate. Ann (Rashida Jones), Tom (Aziz Ansari), and Chris (Rob Lowe) work in the media spin room, while Ron (Nick Offerman) goes the extra mile to save a party for Leslie’s donors.
Scandal (ABC, 10pm) – “Enemy of the State” – After the Amanda Tanner (Liza Weil) case takes a shocking turn, one-time friends Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) take heated, opposing viewpoints, and Cyrus tries to help in investigating the personal lives of Olivia and her associates. Meanwhile Olivia and her team help a dictator locate his wife and children who have been allegedly kidnapped, and Quinn (Katie Lowes) goes out with a reporter seeking information.
