Spring brings many exciting events for students. School is almost over for the year. Spring break offers the chance to take a fun trip to a tropical beach. Juniors and Seniors are looking forward to prom. For those who do not know, prom is short for promenade. It is a formal, black tie gathering of high school students. Boys wear black or white formal tuxedos, often with a bow tie and cummerbund or vest matching their date’s dress. Girls wear formal dresses with a corsage purchased by their date. For girls finding the dress is of ultimate importance. This can be very difficult for a larger girl though as not all dresses look good on a larger girl. Plus sized prom dresses can also be hard to find.
Many prom dresses are brightly colored, but many plus sized girls cannot pull off a bright red or blue dress. If this is the case, how about a pastel? This year retailers are offering fun colors like lavender, mint green, or a soft pink. These soft colors can accentuate the right parts of the body and make everyone feel comfortable.
Many prom dresses are also very provocative and show a lot of skin. For a plus sized girl this can be a challenge, as most do not feel comfortable showing so much. How about a shawl or wrap. Right now crocheted wraps are in style. If this is too old-fashioned, try a sheer patterned or solid scarf matching the dress.
