HGTV’s new “Property Virgins” host Egypt Sherrrod, who replaced Sandra Rinomato earlier this year, has been tapped to take over the midday slot at Atlanta’s urban radio station WVEE (V-103) beginning March 19.
Before joining HGTV, the Philadelphia native hosted middays on New York City’s venerable WBLS-FM and previously put in work at WERQ (92-Q) in Baltimore and her hometown station WPHI (Hot 107.9). In television, she has served as a correspondent for “Maury” and a pop culture contributor for Atlanta-based CNN and HLN.
This year, she’ll appear in the upcoming film “Life Love Soul,” about a 17-year-old honor student coping with the sudden death of his mother. [Watch the trailer at left.]
Away from the spotlight, Sherrod married Mike Jackson in September 2010, and in January of this year gave birth to their first child – a baby girl named Kendall Rae.
“It’s hard to fully express how overwhelmingly blessed I feel at this moment about everything that is coming to fruition in my career and personal life,” said Egypt in a statement. “Joining the CBS Radio family at Atlanta’s number one rated station is so refreshing. Add to that, my new hosting position with ‘Property Virgins’ on HGTV, the most prominent film role I’ve had thus far and the birth of my daughter and I literally feel like I am on top of the world.”
At V-103, Sherrod replaces midday jock Ramona DeBreaux, who will move to another timeslot at the station. Fans outside the Atlanta metro area can go to www.v-103.com to hear Egypt’s weekday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. show stream live.
“I’m very excited about Egypt joining the V-103/WAOK radio family,” said Program Director Reggie Rouse. “Egypt is one of the top air personalities in the country and we look forward to her being a part of our team.”
Added General Manager Rick Caffey: “Egypt’s talent, national appeal and professionalism is the perfect combination to complement our current all-star line-up and take middays to the next level.”
Meanwhile, “Property Virgins,” which follows first-time home buyers in their real estate experience, airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. Sherrod helps new buyers see the difference between their hopes of acquiring the out-of-reach dream home and the hard reality of what it takes to find the right property.
As previously reported, former “Property Virgins” host Rinomato announced her departure from the series in early January to begin a new show for HGTV Canada titled Buy Herself, which focuses on single women purchasing real estate.
