The following article is part of an ongoing effort to help homeless dogs in and around the Toronto/Hamilton area find suitable and loving homes. Sometimes this effort extends even further, since there are so many dogs that find themselves in dire circumstances. Currently, the need is great but the homes are few. Your help is desperately needed.
All Breed Canine Rescue (ABCR) of London, Ontario would like to tell you about Sweet KK, an adult female Shih Tzu named KK, who came from a puppy mill.
Described as a “puppy mill momma,” this sweet girl was pretty scared when she saw the veterinarian but still “wagged her tail and gave kisses,” according to her foster mom.
KK is 6 years old but just now learning about the world around her. Her foster mom is currently housetraining her and teaching her to walk nicely on a leash.
Unfortunately, she has lost many of her teeth due to her past ill treatment. However, with a better diet now, it is felt that her dental health should improve.
“It’s when I meet sweet dogs like this that I really want people to understand why they should not buy puppies in a pet store,” her foster mom wrote. “Sweet KK is looking forward to a better life!”
This adorable girl is having some dental work done. She is also spayed, was heartworm tested (negative), had her vaccinations, was de-wormed and micro-chipped.
To meet KK, please go to the All Breed Canine Rescue web site and fill out an Adoption Application located on the left hand side of the site. Then send the application via email to email@example.com and put ‘Pet Inquiry: Sweet KK PFId#22490108’ in the subject line.
All Breed Canine Rescue (ABCR) does not have employees or overhead. The rescue relies solely on foster homes, volunteers and donations. The rescue saves dogs (and cats) of all ages, breeds and sizes from the St. Thomas and London city pounds. All dogs are fully vetted and placed in foster homes while they wait for forever homes.
ABCR also works within a rescue network and helps dogs in other pounds or shelters when the resources are available. ABCR works with municipalities toward animal welfare initiatives within these communities.
