When Revel Entertainment Group broke ground in 2007 to launch a $2,4 billion casino and hotel resort project in Atlantic City. Revel features 180,000 sq. ft. of gaming space, 500,000 sq. ft. of entertainment space and 1,900 rooms. The resort also houses a 4,550-seat capacity transformable entertainment venue designed by Scéno Plus.
The design intent, according to Revel executives, was to create a breathtaking multifunctional venue that “would energize the nightlife of the overall complex. This performance venue has been designed for the public to surround the stage and transmit the energy and emotions the artists need to perform and feel close to the audience.”
Revel Entertainment wished for a theater with 4,566 seats and 5,200 standing capacity; an area of approximately 150,000 square feet at a cost of about $80 million.
Revel brought in Sceno Plus. a Montreal designer company, to coordinate the effort. According to its on line site, Scéno Plus, founded in 1985, made its mark internationally by its constant quest for innovative design and original construction solutions dedicated to cultural and recreational venues. Ovation Hall, a one-of-a-kind transformable theatre, is dedicated to enhance any production and create an unforgettable live show experience. Highly flexible, the venue has the ability to achieve various configurations for different types of events such as concerts, sporting events, conferences, banquets and exhibitions, according to a Sceno Plus fact sheet. Ovation Hall seats 4,500 and allows for standing room, too.
To create a ballroom environment, 1,564 comfortable retractable theatre seats can be stored easily and rapidly to obtain a 21,000 square foot flat floor giving general admission and banquet possibilities. In addition, the large venue’s balcony can be divided with movable partition walls into three intimate lecture rooms that are excellent for hosting meetings.
The venue offers four prestigious VIP suites with a premium location on each side of the stage that can accommodate a total capacity of 108 patrons. VIP guests are close to the action, benefit from great sightlines, have access to an exclusive lounge as well as a private Meet & Greet room to meet up with the artists.
