Rizzoli & Isles returns to TNT for its third season on June 5 at 10PM on channel 3 in Queens, and along with showing what comes next after the season 2 finale, which ended with Jane shooting Paddy Doyle, the drama will see returns from a number of characters.
According to TV Guide, among those returning are Chazz Palminteri (Frank), Ed Begley Jr. (Dr. Pike), Chris Vance (Lt. Col. Casey Jones), Jacqueline Bisset (Constance), John Doman (Paddy Doyle), and Colin Egglesfield (Tommy). Jane and Maura both have people coming back into their lives that could complicate things, along with a couple of new characters joining the fray.
Frank wasn’t in the second season at all, but when he does show up, he has “some news that upsets the family.” Uh-oh, could he have gotten some tragic medical news? What else would bother the family? Will that be what brings Tommy back too? Are viewers going to be treated to a scene with the Rizzoli parents and children? That’s not all that’s coming up for Jane, as Casey Jones is back, but she also has Billy Burke’s Agent Dean in her life. Will she have to make a choice between the two in season 3?
Rizzoli & Isles season 3: Maura’s biological mother has been cast
Speaking of family, Maura’s going to have her plate filled. Not only is her biological mother, Hope, showing up, but she also has her biological father, Paddy Doyle, still in her life. Then there’s the matter of where her adoptive mother, Constance, will fit in. What will she think of the woman who gave Maura up? Does this mean that Paddy Doyle definitely survives the gunshots and fall from the season 2 finale? If so, how much will he be involved in his daughter’s life? What will happen to him next?
Family’s not the only thing Maura will have to focus on. Professionally, she’ll have Dr. Pike back in to help her out, and personally, she’ll be getting a new possible love interest in Eddie Cibrian, recurring in the role of Dennis Rockmond, a motivational speaker who’s going to be bringing out Maura’s wild side.
Rizzoli & Isles season 3 to feature flashback episode
Jane and Maura are going to have a lot going on in the third season, which will also include a look at how they met as they try to get their friendship back to what it was after the season 2 finale. Maura pushed Jane away after she shot her father, and it looks like it’s hard to just go back to how things were after that.
