Roozt.com hosted its official launch party Wednesday night with an open bar and appetizers (shrimp tacos were superb by the way!) at Nikki’s in Venice Beach. The red carpet event was to celebrate Roozt.com, a new online marketplace that makes it fun, easy and rewarding to discover, shop and share the trendiest cause-related brands and products under one roof.
And the event itself was just as fun and cause-related, boasting a group of trendy hipsters whom were all on board with bringing sexy back to giving back. Attendees were so committed to the cause, that over 1,000 had signed a pledge that day:
I (name) officially pledge that I will never again sacrifice how I look for how I want to feel. By submitting my (email) and a (password), I confirm I’m ready to bring sexy back to giving back.
Other event highlights included the Rooztaholic (containing VeeV, a carbon-neutral acai-infused spirit): one drink. one child. one month. The Rooztaholic will be available at Nikki’s Venice Beach for the entire month of April with proceeds helping to educate children in need through non-profit partner, Pencils of Promise, a global charity supported by Justin Bieber that builds schools in impoverished regions around the world. I know what you’re thinking… and yes, they even found a socially responsible cocktail. But they also promoted responsible drinking with on-demand car service courtesy of Uber, where they offered $30 off any journey starting or ending at the event.
So what exactly is Roozt.com? It’s an online platform for socially responsible companies. A place where Gen Y shoppers can express their unique personalities and care about the world. A stage where the best cause-related products such as WeWood Watches, which plants a tree for every timepiece purchased; This Shirt Helps, that supports education, reforestation, and clean water efforts around the world, and over 50 other socially responsible brands can come together under one umbrella and support their global humanitarian, eco-friendly, ethical or community-support missions with every purchase.
Roozt.com’s focus is to inspire and empower social entrepreneurs to change the world through business. Roozt.com CEO and USC graduate, Brent Freeman, hopes to make an impact around the world. During the evening toast, he said that the business only works because of its investors. When he graduated from USC he said “(explicit) the way that everybody else is doing business, I can make a business that can change the world.” And that he did! He says that his company will keep discovering inspiring brands and that this is only the beginning.
