With the institution of the Direct Delivery system, many people think that the marketplace is going to crash and burn faster than the market for virtual land.
The marketplace wouldn’t change drastically with the addition of the direct delivery system. This only removes the need for any player to need to rent a space of land to place their box. It eliminates the box rental areas, and as for players trying to make money off of that, it was a low end business to begin with. There is more money in making things for the marketplace itself.
A resident need only have access to one of the thousands of sandboxes out there now, in order to create anything for the marketplace and set an item up for sale.
Not that there aren’t still advantages to owning land. There’s the note of privacy, and quiet in your own land of creations.
There are plenty of reasons to still rent or own land, but there’s no longer a reason to rent anything for a single prim…. unless you count item update servers.
Well either way, good luck and god speed gamers.
