Geroy Simon is not only a powerful force on the field when if comes to racking up yards and taking the ball into the endzone, he can also dress to turn heads.
On the verge of becoming the CFL’s all time leader in reception yardage, only 66-yards behind Milt Stegal’s record of 15,153 yards, Simon is a formidable force for the BC Lions and an equally well-dressed man.
In his recent press conference announcing his contract extension with the BC Lions, Simon showed up looking suave from head to toe. His ensemble included a shirt from Banana Republic, a Penguin sweater and a well fitted hat from New Era.
Simon who knows that first impressions are crucial feels that it’s important a man dresses nice. Geroy’s whose personal style includes bit of everything, always wants to look presentable. “One day you can see me in a hoodie, the next day in a suit and I always try and make it look nice,” says Simon who loves the feel of putting on a suit.
This six-time CFL All-Star who spends a considerable amount of time training, often wears athletic clothes and is very particular about the fit. “It’s not a vanity thing, I want to show that I take care of my body, and wear things that contour towards my body, ” says Simon.
Simon, like many of us admits that he scopes out other well-dressed people. “I look at a lot of people and if I like what they are wearing enough I won’t steal it but I will look in my closet and see what I have that is comparable.”
Simon’s preference for hats has shifted from baseball caps, popular when he started playing the sport at age six and thirty years later he now prefers Kangol hats.
On his feet, Simon notices that he’s often wearing casual running-type shoes. His preference on those? Adidas.
While Geroy keeps his feet moving into the end zone, we’ll keep our eyes ready to see what he wears when accepting his next award. With only 66 yards needed to be the CFL’s all-time leading receiver, it is likely we will see Simon’s classy and laid-back style on stage this November in Toronto for the 2012 CFL Player Awards. “My focus is on winning games and another Grey Cup, ” finishes Simon. “If everything goes right I will move way past 16,000 yards.”
Bring it on Geroy! Personally, I’d like to see you rock a Kangol hat and suit combination the next time you step on stage.
