South Florida is getting ready for the largest Latin festival in the Nation. Calle Ocho 2012 is 35 years old this year and every year its extravagance is loved by all. Calle Ocho “Carnival Miami” is sponsored by Kiwanis of Little Havana which are advocates for service programs for the children in Little Havana. A beautiful portrait called Flowers in Carnival or Flores En Carnival by George Rodez was painted to represent all Latin cultures. The 35 leaves and eight flowers are symbols of the age of the Calle Ocho while the bass painted in the center of the portrait is a metaphor of the music and dance within the festival. The theme of Carnival Miami is One World which is a perfect way to show the diversity of this festival.
The musical line up this year in Calle Ocho is fierce. On Saturday, March 11,2011 some of the hottest Latin and Hip Hop artist will be performing. The fans are excited about this day of music. JenCarlos Canela will be headlining the Latin stage. This Cuban- American singer and actor will be singing some of his hottest hits such as” Amor Quedate”. The Power 96 stage will have artist such as Fat Joe, Flo-Rida and Sean Paul, this will make it impossible not to dance and enjoy this street party.
Calle Ocho is a festival for all ages and can be enjoyed by the little ones. The food will be unique but yet tasteful. This street party should not be missed! Calle Ocho 2012 is a much anticipated Latin festival, so set the calenders for Saturday, March 11 2012 from 11am-7pm for a day of Latin flair.
