Where did the time go? It seems that just yesterday we were hurrying the kids back to school and here it is Easter, and Passover, and time for a Spring Break.
It’s a great time for a family vacation. Airfares have come down from their winter highs, many resorts have already lowered their prices and vacation cities are not yet as crowded as during the summer.
Choices, choices! Where to go, what to see?
Want to take the family on a cruise? See the previous article on Cruising. Cruise lines are offering sales to the Caribbean.
For example: Carnival Cruise Lines has sales on cruises leaving from New York or Baltimore, and Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise lines leave from Cape Liberty, New Jersey.
Want to catch the last of the ski season? Then head on out to Colorado. Or, try the less expensive but with just-as-terrific ski slopes at Jackson Hole, Beaver Creek or Tahoe. Want to stay closer to home?
Whiteface Ski resort in Upstate New York has 22 perfect miles of trail spread out over 86 runs. The mountain rivals other slopes like Aspen, Vail, and Park City by having 3430 feet of continuous vertical drop. Whiteface is surrounded by the spectacular Adirondack Forest and when you’re tired of skiing you can hang out in nearby Lake Placid.
Still closer to home and perfect for family fun while getting the kids engrossed in a little 9or a lot) of our country’s history… drive on down to Philadelphia. Spring is a great time to be in Philadelphia. Not crowded as in summer, the weather is prefect, museums have reopened and the Cherry Blossom Festival is just beginning. There is so much for kids to do. You could spend all day at Independence National Historical Park, visit the Liberty Bell Museum, and watch the Lights of Liberty when the sun goes down. Of course you must have cheese steak sandwich!
Some place different? Fly on down to Costa Rica while fares are just coming down from the winter prices and you’ll be ahead of the summer crowds. Bring the kids too. Where else would they see toucans and howler monkeys and many other strange creatures in between? Having fun is easy although it may make some Moms nervous as the kids zipline through the lush forests or try to catch a wave in the aquamarine blue waters. Or, white water rafting down the Corobici river enjoying the sights of exotic birds, more monkeys, the Jesus Christ lizards, and the lush vegetation surrounding the river.
And of course, there’s always Jamaica with so many family-fun resorts to choose from. Winter is over, it’s still not too hot even if you just want to laze on the beach, all inclusive—eat whenever, drink whenever and lots of activities for the kids.
So … just a few suggestions for a perfect Spring break that all the family can enjoy. Several of the online travel agencies: Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity to mention a few; have sales and deals going on right now. Get online and book your vacation now before the deals are gone!
