OK boys and girls, polish up your eatin’ forks and head on down to Cowtown FM for a rocking fun time at the market this weekend.
Last year was tough for everyone in Fort Worth and surrounding area…farms were burned to a crisp, the farmer’s markets looked like ghost towns, and everyone was shell shocked from air conditioning bills.
But then came 2012 and rain – lots of it. It’s a bit cooler (so far) as well, and the produce is growing like crazy. March 31 is THE day for fun and festivities over Cowtown way where you’ll enjoy gardening demonstrations, contests for the kiddos, and live music.
Join us on Saturday, March 31, as we celebrate spring! Our festival will feature live music, demos by the Tarrant County Master Gardeners, Easter egg hunt, door prizes, a coloring contest for kids. Also, Leigh Rhodes from Harvest Supply will demonstrate vegetable planting solutions (Cowtown Farmer’s Market).
You’ve heard about it…you’ve read about it…now DO something about it…clean up your plate! Make Saturday the day you decide to make those changes you’ve been meaning to implement, but never got around to it. Take a walk around the market and you’re sure to find inspiration in the asparagus, carrots (turnips, onions and other roots), lettuces, radishes, garlic, bok choy, and chard. Eating more vegetables, especially raw vegetables, increases your intake of antioxidants, fiber, minerals, vitamins…basically all the stuff your body needs. An added bonus is that it is difficult to eat too many vegetables and fruits because they fill you up and keep you satisfield.
