On Monday, April 23, approximately 250 Sprint fans attended Sprint’s recycling event at the Sprint Retail Store on La Cienega in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chauncey Billups was there to greet fans, sign autographs, and collect their recyclable mobile devices. More than 50 phones were traded in between the event held from Noon to 2 p.m.
Fans that dropped off their mobile devices to be recycled were eligible to win tickets to the Clippers’ playoff home opener, as well as participate in the Sprint Buyback program which offers new and existing Sprint customers up to a $300 credit in exchange for their devices, even if they are from other carriers.
Sprint is ranked No. 3 in Newsweek’s 2011 Green Rankings and has kept more than 28 million phones out of landfills. Right now, Sprint is offering an extra $50 credit on top of the Sprint Buyback to new customers who recycle a phone and sign a new contract, or existing customers who add another line of service. This promotion ends May 30.
