A fight to the death between 24 teenagers may not inspire thoughts of romance, but that’s not stopping some couples from using The Hunger Games as inspiration for their weddings.
Or at least, it hasn’t stopped some stylists, event planners, and photographers from creating Hunger Games-themed wedding photo shoots. We haven’t seen any proof of couples actually tying the knot at the mouth of a cornucopia, but some stylists have shared recent photo shoots that feature weddings inspired by The Hunger Games.
Style Me Pretty features one Hunger Games wedding photo shoot that focuses on the softer side of the books’ romance. The setting is a rustic field, and features fields of white and yellow daffodils — sort of a prettier upgrade from the dandelions referenced in the books. The bride wears her hair in a side ponytail, a reference to Katniss’s braid without being an overt copy.
The yellow and white color scheme is carried out in the other decorations and in the cake, which features a golden Mockingjay. The other food pictured in the spread is also reminiscent of food from the books, such as bundles of bread, cheese, and berries.
The Wedding Tree features a different Hunger Games-themed wedding shoot, this one focusing a bit more on Katniss as a warrior. The bride wears an exaggerated side braid and carries a bow and arrow with her. In a nod to Cinna’s various dress designs, the bride is seen wearing her white gown — with some additional options on dress forms behind her.
This shoot also features a Hunger Games-inspired menu featuring lamb and duck for entrees (both game Katniss could have hunted outside District 12), and side dishes inspired by other meals featured in the books.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for ideas to throw your own Hunger Games-themed wedding, TresSugar has some ideas — from a forest setting, to “girl on fire” desserts, and styling for the bridal party.
