Beginning at 1230pm on Saturday, March 31st, Back Forty Beer Company (200 North 6th Street, Gadsden) will host The Front Porch Revival at the brewery for their first Front Porch Festival.
The Front Porch Revival describes themselves as “a group devoted to the promotion of those who craft unique food, drink, art, and literature with a clear Alabama identity. In [their] journey [they] hope to discover and share the best of Alabama, while discovering and defining the contours of Alabama’s current culture and society.” With The Front Porch Festival, they will be celebrating great food, craft beer, and music that has all been cultivated in and influenced by the great state of Alabama.
The food portion of this event will feature the talents of award winning, Alabama chefs David Bancroft, Graham Hage, Leonardo Maurelli, and Rob McDaniel as they showcase locally sourced ingredients from Alabama farms and businesses. The spread will include “three whole hogs, copius piles of crawfish, boudin, homemade chicken sausage, farm fresh corn, and the kind of surprises professional chefs like these dream up on the spot”. These dishes will be accompanied by items from Alabama small businesses such as goat cheese from Belle Chevre (Elkmont, AL) and the famous line of pickled goodness from Wickles (Dadeville, AL). All the food featured will be Alabama sourced, Alabama made, and prepared with Alabama love.
In addition to all of the amazing food, Back Forty Beer Company will be offering their lineup of beery goodness to the thirsty masses at this event. During the festival, there will be a two hour beer tasting in the Back Forty taproom so you can learn about their tasty brews and discuss them with the wonderful folks who make them. If you have yet to visit Back Forty’s new facility in Gadsden, I couldn’t think of a better event to check it out.
After the food and beer portion of the festival winds down, the party moves to Back Forty’s Beer Garden Stage for an evening of local music. Opening acts begin at 430 pm and headliners Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will be on stage at 730 pm to keep the good times going well into the evening.
Tickets for this event are $20 in advance (click here to arrange tickets online) or $25 day of the event at the door. Price of admission gets you access to all the amazing food, a pint of Back Forty beer of your choice, admission to the post-festival concert, and a one year membership to The Front Porch Revival. If you only want to attend the concert after the festival, you can purchase tickets day of for $12.
This is sure to be the type of party folks will be talking about for weeks afterwards. So, if you are free on March 31st, go ahead and do yourself a favor by arranging some tickets to celebrate Alabama’s always changing culture with some of the coolest people influencing it today. Prost!
