The already popular Starving Artist Cafe & Gallery on City Island in The Bronx has added a new item to its already ample musical and culinary offerings – live streaming of select shows! On Sunday, March 25, proprietors Monica and Elliott Glick broadcast their first live performance of Elliott and Friends. The session featured Elliott along with musicians Brian Conigliaro, Carolann Solebello and Scott Urgola.
‘This is a new direction that The Artist is taking, adding a new dimension of experience for our loyal customers,’ said Monica. The Glicks plan on having at least one live streaming a month, generally the Elliott and Friends jam session which occurs one Sunday each month. Additional live streams from some Saturday night performances are also planned.
‘Live streaming is part of the evolution of The Starving Artist,’ added Elliott. ‘We are excited to go in this new direction.’
The Artist is as busy as ever with shows every Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Open mics are still hosted by Mark Hohenstein at The Artist on the last Friday of each month. Recent performances include jazz guitar sensation Lou Volpe, who has written and performed with Herbie Mann and Liza Minelli, among others; Cassandra Kubinski, who has cowritten a song with Long Island legend Billy Joel; and Grammy-winning guitarist John Guth. John won his Grammy for the sound track of the audio version of one of the Harry Potter books.
