Located about 20 minutes outside Sacramento, California, there is a restaurant in my alma mater town, Davis, with a restaurant known for its specialty cocktail to the locals. At Cafe Bernardo, the “Wicky Wacky Woo” or also known as “The Wiki” has been a stable tradition drink at this cafe since the late 1990s it proudly boasts. Although this restaurant is also known for its great breakfast and brunch, most college students from the University of California, Davis, know that Cafe Bernardo is a great place to start the night off with a drink or two. And there is no better way to start your night in this college town with a Wiki drink! However, it should be warned that this drink is very strong. Despite its deceptive deliciousness, the ingredients that goes into this cocktail is similar to a Long Island Ice Tea. And for those familiar with that cocktail, it is a very strong drink!
So what’s in this $8 “Wicky Wacky Woo” cocktail at Cafe Bernardo?
It features four clear spirits of Vodka, Gin, Tequila, and Rum. About 1/2 oz of each liquor is used. Then add 1/2 oz of Triple Sec and 1 oz of Amaretto. In order to get that great deceptive deliciousness, this cocktails adds another 1 oz each of pineapple, orange, and cranberry juice. But we’re not done yet! To top off this great cocktail, it mixes in 1/2 oz of Bacardi 151 – proof rum. And for those familiar with Bacardi 151, it contains about oh … 75% alcohol content! After creating such an amazing cocktail, it is garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.
So even though you may not be near Sacramento/Davis, you can drink this great cocktail that has been a stable tradition for Davis locals at the comfort of your home. But if you do happen to be in the area, there is no better way than trying this drink from bartenders trained to make this cocktail on a nightly basis!
