Two days after first starting up some controversy on “The Today Show” by claiming that Lindsay Lohan is “not capable” of playing Elizabeth Taylor and should get away from acting, Rosie O’Donnell is now doing her best to try and set the record straight.
Speaking to Matt Lauer and Ann Curry, Rosie said that she was surprised to see the story get as much attention as it did, but that her goal here was always not to slam Lindsay, but to try and give her the best advice possible so we don’t have a tragic situation on their hands:
“I (was) watching Whitney Houston’s funeral, and I remember thinking why didn’t more people say what they knew? … We all knew, when she would not show up to do this show, not show up to do my show, we watched ‘Being Bobby Brown’ and it was like watching Sid and Nancy, they were people who were in the throes of addiction. But all that anyone cared about was that the show was getting ratings, not that this woman, this talented individual, this human being, this mother, this daughter, was worth saving… To look at Lindsay Lohan you can’t help but feel for her.”
Rosie was originally making an appearance on the show to be a part of a “Professionals” panel, which she did for a second time Thursday without nearly as much controversy.
Did you think that Rosie’s initial comments were a big deal?
