March 28, 2012– Torchwood, which ended up being co-produced between Starz and BBC for season 4 may come back for a season 5.
According to the metro.co.uk:
Starz’s Chris Albrecht had said Torchwood was ‘not one of the shows we went into thinking about a yearly return,’ with the hectic work schedule of Russell T Davies the main reason for Torchwood being put on hold.
‘You know, Russell [T Davies] is so busy. Obviously, we’re in touch with the BBC all the time. They are our partners on [new shows] DaVinci’s Demons and Harem.
‘We told them, we stand by ready for any news, but I think it would be a while before Russell came back to Torchwood.’
For those who still want to continue to watch Torchwood this news is somewhat good, because Starz is not saying that the show is completely dead. On the other hand how long is a long wait time?
Torchwood: Miracle Day had mixed reviews across the board and as a fan of the series and while I liked Miracle Day, I want old Torchwood back. What made it great was the fact that it was a Doctor Who spinoff with Captain Jack going on Who to help along the adventures. It also had a monster of the week vibe that worked oh so well when it first came out.
I say leave the mini-series vibe or one long story arc aside and reconnect back with the Doctor and find another rift already. I think that will not only bring back the longtime fans, but will allow new fans to see why Torchwood had such a loyal following at one time.
What do you think? Should it just be done? Or should it go back to the beginning maybe a reboot? Let us know in the comments below.
