The Dick’s Sporting Goods Open has announced that the multiple Grammy award-winning pop band Train will perform at the Friday evening concert on August 17th during tournament week. Train is a trio of Patrick Monahan (vocals), Jimmy Stafford (guitar and vocals), and Scott Underwood (percussion).
The 2012 Train tour is in support of their sixth album, California 37, which will be released on April 17. The San Francisco group’s first album, Train, released in 1998, scored a hit with “Meet Virginia.” Drops of Jupiter was released in 2001 and the title track earned the group two Grammys. In addition, that album went double platinum in the United States and Canada. The band has endured some turnover in the ranks, but the hits have continued to come, with their biggest hit thus far being “Hey, Soul Sister” in 2009.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Broome County Arena Box Office, Ticketmaster, and at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores. The ticket price includes viewing the Friday round of the tournament.
