The Bethlehem Area Public Library is giving the entire family an opportunity to travel back in time to the golden age of radio on Saturday May 5th 2:00 p.m. The Spirit of the Airwaves Players will be giving a live performance of old-time radio favorites and need a live studio audience.
S.O.A.P. performs classic radio drama, comedy, westerns, suspense and of course, those famous jingles and commercials from yesteryear. Episodes of Little Orphan Annie, the Lone Ranger, The Shadow and Superman are brought to the audience with all the explosions, eerie footsteps, clopping horses and other sound effects and music to keep listeners on the edge of their seats.
This performing company is a favorite at the Mid-Atlantic Air-show in Reading every year and draws great crowds. The company takes it’s audience back in time by dressing in 1930s and 1940s vintage costumes and use vintage props such as microphones too. It’s so entertaining to watch the sound effects man use authentic tools to recreate the era’s radio special effects.
