For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55:8-9
I remember driving around my Jacksonville neighborhood one Christmas season looking at holiday lights with my then-three-year-old son.
“Look, mommy!” he kept saying excitedly, “How beautiful!” He was so enthralled by even the simplest light display.
I was amazed at how full my life was with this little person in it. After all, during my pregnancy I hadn’t been excited about mothering a little boy. I only wanted girls. Little boys were rowdy, rambunctious and foreign. I grew up with sisters. I knew nothing about little boys, and wasn’t eager to learn.
God had a different plan, as He often does. He knew how to bless me best!
Oftentimes, we humans think we know best. We are so wise in our own eyes. We think we know just what we need, which of course is what we want. But we see with such limited vision! Consider that, as a ,human, you are but a mere speck in all of history. Now consider all of the knowledge you can possibly gain during your time on this planet. Anywhere close to God’s infinite knowledge and wisdom? Not a chance.
When we remember who God really is, it’s so much easier to trust Him. He knows each one of us better than we know ourselves! You can confidently leave your life in His ever-capable hands. And you can be sure He will bless you beyond your ability to imagine.
