Tyson Foods, Inc. is partnering with Feeding South Florida™ (formerly Daily Bread Food Bank) to bring fresh, healthy foods to South Floridians who are food insecure. Tyson is donating nearly 38,000 pounds of roasted chicken with orange sauce to be distributed from one of its trucks at Feeding South Florida’s April 27 at 1pm mobile food pantry event. The donation is part of Tyson’s “Share Your KNOWledge” campaign, which has a goal to help raise awareness about hunger in eight specific U.S. communities, including South Florida. Approximately 300 individuals from Feeding South Florida’s member agencies who are food insecure will receive the food distributed at the farmer’s market-style distribution. Volunteers and employees from Feeding South Florida will be distributing the food.
Through its “Share Your KNOWledge” campaign, Tyson is posting a compelling fact about hunger in a specific community on its website and on the Tyson Foods Hunger Relief Facebook page from April 6-20, 2012. For every “share” that post gets (on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Pinterest), Tyson will donate 10 pounds of food to the Feeding America food bank in that community. In the process, Tyson is donating food to Feeding America food banks in those communities.
In addition to the chicken that Tyson will distribute, Feeding South Florida will serve fresh vegetables, fruits, and bread products. Feeding South Florida Headquarters 2501 SW 32 Terrace Pembroke Park, FL 33023
