Las Vegas–One of the biggest conundrums any athlete eventually finds himself in, is the day he is forced to retire and face the ever present thought of ‘what do I do now?’
Well, for UFC legend Tito Ortiz, he may have found his answer. When Ortiz was asked by a fan on Twitter if he would ever consider entering the realm of Professional Wrestling and joining World Wrestling Entertainment, Ortiz responded with the following;
You never know. Maybe to see who the real peoples champ is?
Ortiz, who is set to retire after his final fight–a trilogy matchup with arch nemesis Forrest Griffin at UFC 148 coming up in July—will finally need something to occupy his time after he finishes off his legendary career. A career that still seats him atop the Light Heavyweight division, as he is the longest running title holder in the history of the weight class.
The realm of Sports Entertainment is no stranger to the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” as he briefly had a stint in TNA Wrestling back in 2004, and he was a hit with the fans of the WWE’s biggest rival. For fans of Ortiz this wasn’t really a surprise, as Tito is widely considered one of the better ‘talkers’ in MMA. His ability to sell a fight is unparallel.
In fact, some of the UFC’s most lucrative PPV’s have featured Ortiz on the bill. Couple that with his ability to give energy charged interviews, and Ortiz could be a prime candidate to join the ranks of body slams, figure fours, and top rope elbows.
What do you think fight fans? Is Ortiz just blowing smoke, or does this seem like a viable option to you all? For me personally, I find it very hard to believe Ortiz will relinquish any spotlight until he’s exhausted every option.
“Real House Dads of Orange County,” look out.
