The 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be held on Sunday, April 1st in Las Vegas. The ACM is hosting a talented line up of country stars that are performing all weekend to celebrate at the Freemont Street Experience. The Freemont is one of many festivities taking place leading up to the big event and here are 5 activities to help you have a little country fun in the desert.
ACM is putting on a two-day free concert show on Freemont Street this Friday and Saturday on three stages that will include performances by Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes and Scotty McCreery, the nominees for the ACM’s New Artist of the Year award. Also featuring Love and Theft as well as Luke Bryan, the Headliner for Friday night will perform on the 3rd stage at 10:45pm. While Jana Kramer, Craig Campbell, Eli Young Band, and Laura Bell Bundy will perform Saturday with Eric Church headlining the last show of the evening. If listening to music isn’t your thing then why not try and sink your teeth into some tasty BBQ.
Today MGM Resorts Cook Off presented by BULL outdoor grills will be having an event for Executive Chef teams from some of Las Vegas’ top resorts are competing for grills worth $12,000. The cook-off starts at 3pm at the BBQ demo area and includes chef: Chef Brian Elledge (Mandalay Bay), Chef Matt Scovill and Chuck Wagenaar (Luxor), Chef Gary Munsie and Daniel McGowen (Excalibur) and Chefs Derek Gigliotti and Julio Castillo (Mirage) with winners being announced at 5pm. There is also the ACM BBQ Throwdown on Saturday, judging starts at noon and is open to the public where they can see 100 of the best international BBQ teams.
Sunday is Ribba Ramma as more than 40 local competitors grill off to win a Lang BBQ Smoker valued at $2500. This event start at 10am and is also open to the public who can taste samples of the food up until the winner is announced at 3pm. All of the BBQ events will be held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and anyone interested can go to the ACM website for info on tickets and event locations.
