A rainy Saturday kicks off the weekend in the New York City area, which can be a delight to some runners. For those who want to avoid the dreary weather, JackRabbit Sports is hosting Dynamic Strengthening at its Union Square location (42 West 14th Street) at 9 a.m. It combines a variety of techniques to help build strength and endurance.
For those ready to brave the weather, Prospect Park Track Club will host its usual Saturday morning run in Prospect Park, starting at 8 a.m. Runners are asked to gather at Grand Army Plaza.
Several races will also be held this weekend. Unfortunately, the much high anticipated Coogan Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5K on Sunday is sold out, but spectators are always welcome.
Other area runs include Little Cow Harbor for Hope 4 Mile Run in Greenland, NY on Saturday, March 3; the Parade Day 5K in Rockaway Beach, NY on Saturday, March 3; and the E Murray Todd Half Marathon in Lincroft, NJ on Sunday, March 4.
