Former “X Factor” U.S. finalists Marcus Canty and Astro came out in a show of support for the comedy film “Think Like a Man,” which arrives in U.S. cinemas on April 20, 2012. Canty attended the movie’s Atlanta premiere at Regal Atlantic Station on April 3, 2012, while Astro was at the movie’s New York City premiere at AMC Empire 25 on April 4, 2012.
Canty is a 21-year-old R&B singer who came in fourth place on “The X Factor” U.S. in 2011.
Astro (whose real name is Brian Bradley) is a 15-year-old rapper who came in seventh place on “The X Factor” U.S. in 2011.
They were both mentored on the show by “The X Factor” U.S. judge Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who is chairman/CEO of Epic Records. Canty and Astro have since signed deals with Epic, and their respective first albums on Epic are due out sometime in 2012.
Canty has been working with producers Kuk Harrell and Patrick “j.Que” Smith, while Astro has been working with producers Pharrell Williams and Boi 1da.
As previously reported, Canty’s first single is “Won’t Make a Fool Out of You,” which is on the “Think Like a Man” soundtrack. The soundtrack and “Won’t Make a Fool Out of You” single are both set for release on Epic on April 10, 2012.
“Won’t Make a Fool Out of You” has been released to U.S. radio and has been getting rave reviews from fans.
“The X Factor” U.K. judge Kelly Rowland is also on the “Think Like a Man” soundtrack (with the song “Need a Reason”), and she has a small role in the movie. She attended the film’s Los Angeles premiere on February 9, 2012.
The movie’s star-studded premieres in Atlanta and New York City were attended by most of the “Think Like a Man” stars, including Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, La La Anthony and Terrence J. “Think Like a Man” co-stars Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart, Keri Hilson and Jerry Ferrara went to the New York City premiere.
In Atlanta, other celebrities in attendance included Nelly, T.I., Ne-Yo and former “Cosby Show” star Keshia Knight Pulliam.
In New York City, stars who were at the premiere included Fabolous, Adrienne Bailon, John Legend and Christine Teigen.
Hilson, Legend, Ne-Yo are also on the “Think Like a Man” soundtrack.
In other news about Astro, he attended the annual Garden of Dreams Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on April 5, 2012. MSG Entertainment and Garden of Dreams Foundation present the annual talent show for underprivileged children and other children who have had life obstacles.
